|Tutor Coordinator - Literacy Programs

$21.00 per hour
Working hours for this position consist of 15 hours per week (between the hours of 8:00 am and 9:00 pm). These hours are to be agreed upon between the supervisor and employee at the start of employment.
NOTE: This position may require an additional evening and/or weekend work on occasion. The employee has the option of working this time in addition to or in lieu of regular hours.
The Literacy Programs Tutor Coordinator will serve as a support staff to tutors, instructors, and students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a resource library of books, lesson plans, and other materials, for tutors and their students
2. Document and track tutoring hours for tutors and students; report hours to instructors and to the Data Entry Specialist for eData
3. Document and monitor tutor and student attendance
4. Assist with Literacy Program registrations
5. Conduct tutor training, orientation, and professional development for new tutors
6. Assist with GED graduation and Tutor Appreciation Event planning and preparation
7. Maintain good communications and working relationships with appropriate staff, agencies, and class site location staff
8. Maintain good communications and work effectively with all other offices of the college on matters concerning the program
9. Adhere to procedures and policies for the smooth day-to-day operation of the program
10. Participate in professional development activities as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and or RACC
11. Other job-related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree. Familiarity with literacy programs testing (i.e. TABE) and specific needs of adult learners.
Teaching certificate and or 2 years of adult education teaching experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to teach grammar, vocabulary, and the writing of essays, reports, and business correspondence to prepare students for the GED test. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to teach addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to teach basic algebra and geometry to prepare students for the GED test. Ability to compute and teach rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software; Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Experience with online platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom or Google Drive.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Experience with adult education population, curriculum development, mandated welfare reform, and dislocated workers are preferred.
