Admissions for International Students

Students from all over the world attend Reading Area Community College to pursue dozens of degree programs. The College is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant foreign students under the F-1 status.

Please note the deadlines for international students to apply and submit all required documents are June 1 for the fall term and September 1 for the spring term.
The following documents must be submitted before international students can be considered for admission to RACC:

The following preliminary procedures must be completed before international students can be considered for admission to RACC:

  1. Complete the online application to RACC.
  2. A brief statement of academic and work background and the objectives that you hope to accomplish at Reading Area Community College. This will be submitted with your application.
  3. Complete the RACC placement test, to demonstrate college readiness in writing and mathematics. This test can be completed remotely as long as the applicant has access to a computer with a webcam and a stable internet connection.
    1. The writing section of the placement test may be waived with a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 45 or IETLS score of 5.5 or above, taken within the past 2 years.
  4. Certified copies of all official transcripts (academic records) of all training received at the secondary school level or above. If transcripts are from a foreign college or university they must be evaluated by a NACES member organization.
  5. A notarized legal document of sponsorship from the person or organization that is responsible for the student's tuition, fees, room, board, and any other financial needs for the duration of study at RACC. If the student is not sponsored, the document should indicate that the student is responsible for all of the above.
  6. Verification of housing accommodations in the US by lease, rent receipt, or a statement of accommodation provisions by a sponsor or sponsoring agency.
  7. A current bank statement or letter showing a minimum balance of the costs for one academic year in US dollars. The required amount in the account(s) listed on the bank statement or official letter must be accessible, by the sponsor and/or student, for college related needs. This information must be provided in the individual or organization's name sponsoring the student attending RACC.

Only after all of these steps have been completed will an admissions decision be rendered. An I-20 will not be issued until the applicant has been accepted for admission to the College.

Please note, International students are not eligible for financial aid or scholarships through RACC.
