Program Description
The Polysomnography Certificate Program prepares graduates to work in hospitals, sleep centers, and related healthcare settings to diagnose and treat patients with sleep disorders. Students participate in diverse classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences across Berks and surrounding counties. The on-campus sleep lab and clinical rotations prepare students for real-world, hands-on practice in sleep technology.
Hybrid Learning for Your Convenience
This program offers a flexible hybrid learning format, combining online coursework with one in-person lab session per week in our state-of-the-art sleep lab. Coursework consists of 5 7-week classes taken over one year, followed by a clinical internship in an accredited sleep lab.

Career Outlook
Sleep technology is a growing healthcare field, with increasing demand for skilled technologists to diagnose and treat a variety of sleep disorders. Polysomnographic Technologists work in hospitals, independent sleep labs, and physician practices. Neurodiagnostic Technologists, including sleep technologists, are considered a Bright Outlook occupation with expected rapid growth and high job openings. Polysomnographic technologists can work in sleep laboratories within hospitals and clinics, as well as in the offices of physicians specializing in sleep medicine.
Transfer Opportunities
Students interested in continuing their education may pursue related healthcare degrees, such as neurodiagnostic technology or healthcare management. RACC’s enrollment specialists can assist with planning the next steps after program completion.
Clinical Affiliates
Hands-on clinical training is essential to success in sleep technology. Students rotate through sleep centers and hospital-based sleep labs in Berks and neighboring counties to gain experience in diagnostic testing, patient education, and therapeutic intervention. Clinical partners include accredited sleep centers committed to quality care and training excellence.
Admission Requirements
- Be a graduate of an approved secondary school or hold a high school equivalency diploma (GED)
- Complete and submit the RACC Application for Admissions
