Working Hours:
Working hours for this position consist of a 7.5 hour period exclusive of a 1/2 or 1 hour lunch. Specific work hours to be agreed upon by the supervisor and employee prior to the onset of employment.
Summary:
The goal of Reading Area Community College’s Title V Nuestro Próximo Paso is to catalytically transform the institution by Reframing Enrollment and Advising through the implementation of coaching, proactive advising, and early interventions while simultaneously Reframing Curriculum and Instruction through the implementation of guided pathways, improved gateway course instruction, and development of a Learning Commons.
The Title V Activities Director coordinates and implements the daily component activities of the Title V grant, including faculty and staff project-related activities to meet grant performance measures and deliverables.
This position is 100% Title V Grant Funded. This position is an exempt position under state and federal law. This document does not create a contract or any other obligation and employee status remains that of “at will”.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Direct the collection of project data; Collaborate in the development and adherence to grant metrics per the Title grant initiative.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs and department faculty in support of the development and implementation of guided pathways.
- Hire, supervise, and train Title V staff using the four major components of the grant initiative as curriculum for transformative advising of cohort advisees.
- Collaborate with Student Affairs and Enrollment Services in support of the development and implementation of an intrusive case management model incorporating Connection Coaches, Academic Advisors and/or Career Coaches to meet persistence and completion goals.
- Oversee grant compliance amongst enrollment services (admissions and academic advising) and student affairs ( KEYS, Disability Services, Advantage, Upward Bound, and Student Life) with relationship to the four major components of the Title V grant.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff in the implementation and use of CRM and Early Alert software, IT department and administration.
- Organize and partner with campus stakeholders to establish culturally responsive professional development for faculty and staff.
- Assist the Title V Project Director with monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports as required.
- Participate in college committee and facilitate task force meetings as required or assigned.
- Develop tracking methods of contact between Title V staff and student cohort advisees that demonstrate intrusive advising that includes connectedness to culturally responsive practices, technology skills, financial literacy, and career competency.
- Provide and/or procure bilingual service to monolingual and limited English-speaking program participants and/or their family members as needed to achieve the grant objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises Title 5 staff as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Reading Area Community College policies, collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in guidance counseling, education, or related field; preference may be given to individuals with a Master’s degree
- Experience in project management
- Three years of successful experience teaching and/or student support services obtained through instruction or student services
- Knowledge of and commitment to serving bilingual/bicultural student populations and others traditionally underrepresented in higher education
- Experience in curriculum development
- Attendance on Campus
Preferred:
- Community College experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Experience working at a Hispanic Serving Institution (college or university serving 25% or more Hispanic students) preferred
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people
- Excellent written communication skills especially in the areas of report writing and business correspondence
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet skills. Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague or other administrative software a plus.
Communication Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
