Lock 38 - Ontelaunee Township

Lock 38 - This has been partly torn out and the remainder filled in. There is a frame shack about 7 feet by 7 feet with an old tin roof. There is also another frame dwelling 8 x 10. The river elevation is about twenty feet below the lock elevation at this point. The canal has been filled in with coal silt.

There is a three story stone house erected in 1825. The stone work is in fair condition and there is a one-story frame addition. The property is vacant but formerly rented at $5.00 per month. It contains five rooms and no conveniences. It is located between a dirt road and the river. Although the dwelling needs considerable repairs, it could easily be rented. The tin roof is rusted and needs painting.

Remarks - It is our opinion that all property, including the lock 38 and house and extending to, but not including 36-37, would have a fair market value of $1,500.00.
