Pre-College Level Course Planning

Your placement test scores will determine if you will be required to take any pre-college level courses in addition to the courses required for graduation in your academic program and if so, how many. Taking the time to study and prepare for your placement test, which usually results in higher placement test scores, means that you could spend less money on pre-college level courses and graduate sooner.

Once you take your placement test, you'll be able to begin planning your academic path from entry to graduation. The information below will help you understand what your placement test scores mean in terms of how many additional semesters you have before you can take certain college-level courses and how much these courses may cost. You can also print this information and a pre-college level planning guide to help you plan your upcoming semesters.

Writing

At the beginning of your placement test session, you'll be asked to write an essay, or "writing sample". You will have 3 topics to choose from and 30 minutes to write your essay by hand. The score from your writing sample will determine if you need to take any pre-college level writing preparation courses before taking COM 121-English Composition.
