Why should I intern or job shadow?
Internships and job shadowing experiences give students the opportunity to learn more about their fields of study, develop marketable skills, expand their networks, build self-confidence, and increase their chances of being hired upon graduation. In addition, internships and job shadowing experiences are highly beneficial for students because they catch a glimpse into a company or profession, in order to make appropriate career and academic major choices. An internship will give you the beginning experience you need to land your first job.
How do I get an internship?
For internships, the process is similar to finding a job. You will need to get your resume and cover letter ready to go! You should do some research to find companies or organizations within your field of study that offer internships. A good place to start looking is on #RECRUITARAVEN , RACC's online job board. Also, Internships.com and Vault.com post internships daily. Word of mouth is another great way to find an internship. Visit with your professors and see if they know of any opportunities for you. If you still cannot find an internship, create your own. As with the job search, you can contact the Career Center for assistance.
The Career Center host two Job Fairs each year. Attending these Job Fairs could help you find internship opportunities.
