Travel Requirements: Position requires frequent local travel and occasional regional travel; employee must have access to ready transportation.
Summary: The Assistant Director of Community & Academic Partnerships plays a key role in the College’s recruitment and outreach efforts by building strong, positive working relationships with faculty and administration of high schools and other colleges/universities plus staff of community groups interested in promoting education in our region. This individual must have an understanding of curricula and programming, both credit and non-credit, so to be able to work with faculty and administrators on campus and at partner institutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a manager and leader of community and academic partnership programming initiatives, the duties of this individual include but are not limited to the following:
- In collaboration with high school faculty and administration as well as RACC campus faculty and administrators, manage the day-to-day operations of RACC’s dual enrollment programs: courses taught at the high school, programs designed for campus, such as the RSD College Knight program, and high school associate and certificate degree programs.
- Present on dual enrollment and its connection to campus degrees and programs and ensure that students are aware of the benefits of pursuing their first two years of college instruction at RACC.
- Prepare and implement professional development activities for high school faculty and school counselors.
- Oversee registration process during open enrollment of Dual Enrollment and Technical Academy.
- Represent RACC at BBEC planning sessions, CareerReadyBerks planning sessions for career days, Back-to-School Parent Nights in fall and course scheduling in spring.
- Create schedules for fall back-to-school nights and coordinating with Admissions and Enrollment services and additional staff and resources needed during open enrollment period (August to October).
- Coordinate and host, in partnership with Admissions and the Enrollment Services Coordinator-Early College Pathways, the BBEC visits in fall and spring.
- Plan and implement special community engagement projects including, but not limited to, Poet Laureate, Girl Scouts, STEM day, all professional development for K-12 schools that come to RACC, and other events as needed.
- Design outreach programming, for on-campus, in the high schools, and at the CTC’s that informs students, parents, faculty, and school counselors of the benefits of RACC’s dual enrollment programs, career credentials, and transfer associate degrees.
- Coordinate assessment activities with the high school dual enrollment faculty in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Institutional Research to ensure effective student learning outcomes and instruction and the overall delivery of the program; and use assessment results to continuously improve the program.
- Maintain, through working with Academic Affairs, appropriate documentation of dual enrollment instructor credentials, syllabi, and any on-going assessment projects for MSCHE self-study.
- Recruit, enroll, and advise students eligible for Students Occupationally and Academically Ready (SOAR) articulated credit.
- As directed by the AVP of Community & Academic Partnerships, assist with articulation agreements.
- Assist the AVP of Community and Academic Partnerships and/or coordinate special events.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Reading Area Community College policies, collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Must possess an enthusiasm and excitement for the value of a community college education and a genuine concern and enthusiasm for student success. Must be able to project these attitudes to the students, parents, faculty, school counselors, and administrators with whom he/she will work. In addition, the below qualifications are required.
Education and/or Experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution.
- Minimum of three years teaching and/or advising experience.
Preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
- Community College experience.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of Internet software; Microsoft office skills to include spreadsheet software and word processing software as well as understanding information systems specific to online education.
Communication Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of faculty, staff, administrators and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
