Working Hours:
Working hours for this position consist of 25 hours per week. These hours are to be agreed upon between the supervisor and employee at the onset of employment.
Note: This position may require occasional evening work.
Summary:
The Program Coordinator has responsibility to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Training-to-Career Program, including communication with partnering companies and recruiting participants. The Program Coordinator will assist the Director of Workforce Development in the development, implementation and evaluation of a 6 – week Training-to-Career Program to address the basic entry level workforce needs of local manufacturers. This position reports to the Director of Workforce Development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and are illustrative of the types of responsibilities of the position. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in the gathering, analysis, compiling and reporting of knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications from a regional diverse population of Manufacturing SME’s to identify and develop a Training-to-Career program that meets the needs of those companies who are seeking a specific entry-level skill set in their workforce.
- Recruit and assist in the contracting of experienced faculty, instructors and/or outside expert consultants to facilitate the program content and applied skills.
- Recruit and coordinate company partners to provide incumbent employee experts to lead the technology modules.
- Work with regional schools and Community partners to identify and recruit youth (with an emphasis toward disengaged youth) to participate in the Training-to-Career Program.
- Work with the local Berks County CareerLink® to coordinate and schedule WorkKeys assessments for program completers.
- Work with successful program completers and regional companies to assist in job placement
- Assist in compiling and organizing of data, information and metrics needed for grant level reporting.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in STEM or industrial business field plus two years management, team leader or supervisory experience in industrial business or manufacturing; or a minimum of five years management, team leader or supervisory work experience in industrial business or manufacturing required.
Preferred: Project management experience, grant administration experience, and/or community college experience preferred.
Language Skills:
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret information from a variety of documents presented in written mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual: must be proficient with word processing software, spreadsheet software, knowledge of Internet software; the ability to learn course management software and program specific application software; experience with student or client tracking programs.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and/or experience in STEM related occupations. Knowledge and/or experience in manufacturing operations, engineering or human resources preferred.
