How to find geographical and multicultural information

When you need to find information about a PLACE or PEOPLE, check these sources in the Yocum Library:

For MAPS of a particular place use:

  1. The MAP FILE on the 3rd floor which has folded, individual maps arranged alphabetically by place. The Computer Catalog indexes these maps.
  2. The FLAT FILE on the 2nd floor which has flat, individual maps. The Computer Catalog indexes these maps.
  3. The ATLASES which are found in the ATLAS CASES on the 2nd floor.
    For Example: Rand McNally Atlas of the Universe
    National Geographic Atlas of the World
    Rand McNally International Atlas
    Historical Atlas of the United States
    Rand McNally Road Atlas: United States, Mexico, Canada
    Atlas of Pennsylvania
    Pennsylvania Atlas and Gazetteer
    Street map books for Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Montgomery, and Philadelphia.

For Descriptions of a particular place use:

1. Gazetteers or geographical dictionaries such as:

2. The TRAVEL FILE on the 3rd Floor which has brochures arranged alphabetically by place. These items are indexed in the Computer Catalog.

For information on a particular culture use:

1. Reference Materials such as:

2. The General Collection which has books, videocassettes, etc. describing places and cultures.

3. The Periodical Collection where you can find magazines, journals, and newspaper articles on places and cultures by using:
