Financial Aid Information:
- If a student and his or her family cannot meet the full cost of education, the Financial Aid Office, through available financial programs, helps students and their parents meet these costs.
- Applicants can obtain Financial Aid materials by contacting the Office of Financial Aid by calling 610-607-6225.
- ALL applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application can be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. RACC’s Department of Education Code is 010388. Applying on the Web is faster, has fewer questions and automatically checks for mistakes before you submit. You can also receive an application by calling the Admissions Office or by stopping in the Financial Aid Office.
- Students applying for Financial Aid are encouraged to review the Financial Aid Handbook where the process is covered in greater detail.
The following is a listing of financial aid sources available a Reading Area Community College.
Federal Aid:
- Federal Pell Grant - Awards range from $400 to $5350 per academic year.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunities Grant (SEOG) - Awards are generally $100 to $300 per academic year if FAFSA is submitted prior to May 1.
- Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) - Students may work at a designated site on campus during the academic year. The maximum amount that can be earned is $5000 per academic year.
- Federal Direct Loan - These loans require a student loan application which can be requested from most banks and credit unions. The loan amount ranges from $500 to $7500.
State Financial Aid:
- Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) Grant - Grants range from $200 to $3300 or a maximum of 80% of tuition.
- State Work Study Program - Participants must be residents of Pennsylvania. Students may earn up to $3600 per academic year by working in a job relating to their major.

Thanks to generous donations from college employees, alumni, members of the community, business and corporations, Reading Area Community College is able to offer a number of scholarships to recognize academic achievement.
