About Work-Study

RACC Work-Study ProgramWork-study is a form of financial aid that you earn in the form of a paycheck. The program is either federally funded or state funded. The funds are intended to help offset your educational and living expenses. Wages are earned by working on-campus or at an approved off-campus site. Please be aware that Work-Study earnings may affect the limit of your student loan. You may hold only one position at a time, but you may interview to change positions at any time during the year as long as you are still eligible. It is your responsibility to notify the Financial Aid Office of all changes.

There are two types of work-study available at RACC:

Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP)

All work-study employees begin as federal work-study employees.  The program is federally funded.  The rate is currently $8.00 per hour.  There are a variety of on-campus as well as off-campus positions available for federal work-study employees.  Positions will be made available as long as there is funding.

To be eligible for the Federal Work-Study Program, you must:

  1. Fill out the FAFSA financial aid form
  2. Have your Work-study Eligibility Card filled out
  3. Interview and be selected for a work-study position
  4. Complete financial aid orientation and employee paperwork
  5. Be enrolled Half Time
  6. Maintain at least a 2.0 term and cumulative GPA (grade point average)

State Work-Study Program (SWSP)

It is a mandatory requirement for every work-study employee to complete a State Work-study Program application for each academic year as well as for each summer term.  Contact the Work-Study Coordinator in April and September each year to complete this application.
