Advantage Program
The Advantage Program (formerly the Student Support Services Program, or SSSP) is a federally funded program providing services to students in order to help them succeed in college. Advantage is a form of education funding not paid directly to students but given as services provided by RACC and paid for by the federal government.
Program Services
- Counseling - academic, transfer, career, personal
- Tutoring - group, lab, and individual (subject to availability of staff)
- Cultural Activities - discounts or free tickets to trips
- Transfer Trips to four-year colleges - free to Advantage students
- Free "College Success Strategies" course
- Free "Career Decision Making" course (summer term only)
- Advantage scholarships for Pell Grant recipients.
Who is eligible for membership in Advantage?
If you can answer "yes" to some of the following questions, you maybe eligible for the Advantage Program.
- Are you a PELL grant recipient?
- Are you currently enrolled or scheduled for placement in basic-level courses?
- Have you been out of high school for more than five years?
- Are you a GED recipient?
- Are you a first generation college student (neither of your parents has a four-year college degree)?
- Do you have a physical or learning disability?
