ELC Policy Statement
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the RACC ELC Policy Statement. Regulations have been adopted to meet specific requirements to maintain state licensing and to provide families with the highest quality child care. These are highlights of important policies that are explained in great detail in the parent handbook. We encourage you to ask questions about any provision if you are unsure of its intent.
Hours of operation are 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Evening Care is available Monday through Thursday from 6:00pm – 8:00pm during fall, winter, and spring terms only. Hours are subject to change during term breaks, during summer, and other days when college classes are canceled.
A current completed health form must be on file for each child at all times. The state health department requires that each certificate be signed by a doctor and show that the child has been immunized against polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, mumps, and rubella.
In the event of severe weather, please call the Inclement Weather Hotline (610-607-6293), visit RACC website (www.racc.edu), or listen to Y-102FM on your radio prior to bringing your child to the center. The ELC will not be mentioned. The ELC follows the college’s decisions regarding delays and closures.
A child who has a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea during the night will not be admitted the following morning for the safety of the other children. If a child becomes ill during the day, we will notify the parent to have the child picked up as quickly as possible. A child may return to the center when they have been symptom free for 24 hours.
If a child is in need of any medication during the school day, the medicine must be in its original container and the prescription must be on the container. The medicine must be logged in the medicine log-book and signed by the child’s parent. The log-book is available in each classroom.
All payments should be made out to RACC. Payment for students not receiving subsidy is due by the last day of the current term. Payment for staff and faculty not receiving subsidy, is the 15th and 30th of each month. Payments for families receiving subsidy follows the regulations set by the subsidy agency.
Scheduling restrictions prevent credit for holiday, sick and inclement weather days. All families are allowed up to two weeks' absence for vacation during the year where payments are not required. The children must be absent a full week for this to apply. The Request for Vacation Credit form must be completed and returned to the director one week prior to vacation. Children attending the center for any portion of the vacation weeks will be charged the contracted weekly rate.
Children attending full year, including breaks, will be charged for 11 months. There is no charge in December; this provides holiday credit for the entire year. Children must be enrolled by the first week in January of the current year to receive holiday credit in December.
A non-refundable registration fee is required for all children. Each term $20.00, each Academic Year $45.00, or each Fiscal Year $65.00.
All children 12 months and older are provided snack and lunch, if scheduled at that time. The center provides milk during lunch and juice during a morning and afternoon snack. If the child requires special food, the parent is required to provide that food. Occasionally special snacks for birthdays and activities will be provided. Please be sure to let us know of any food allergies or special dietary considerations.
The center retains the right to discontinue its service to any family at the center’s discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, payment problems, parental problems, child behavior problems, and bringing in sick children.
Parents are welcome to visit at any time during operating hours.
Children’s articles/food should be labeled. We are not responsible for lost or broken items.
At no time will any child be subjected to physical or demeaning verbal punishment. Discipline will be in the form of discussing the problem with the child. If necessary, a meeting with the parents and teacher will be held.
Late charges of $20.00 per family and a fee of $5.00 for every 15 minutes or part thereof will apply to any child left at the center past the 6:00 P.M. closing. Please call if you know you will be late. If the teacher has not been able to contact anyone to come and collect the child and the child remains at the center until 8:00 P.M., the child will then be considered an abandoned child and the police will be notified. During normal hours of operation, late pick-ups will be charged in ¼ hour increments at extended hour rates, specifically provided that the center has been notified the pick-up will be delayed. If not, the late fee applies.
We ask parents to give at least two week's notice of their plans to withdraw their children.
If your child will not be attending school because of illness, vacation, or a special visitor, please give us a call. We look forward to seeing your child and appreciate notice if he or she will not be here.
Parents must provide a complete change of clothes, appropriate for the season. The ELC has a limited selection and sizes of clothing. Label all clothing. We are not responsible for lost or damaged clothing.
