Mission

The Education Laboratory Center (ELC) serves Reading Area Community College as a laboratory setting for students of the Early Childhood Education, Special Education Paraeducator, and Education Transfer programs, while providing academic enrichment for children of students, faculty, and staff.

Philosophy

The ELC is licensed by the PA Department of Public Welfare and was accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs in 2005. The ELC is a Keystone Stars "Star 4" facility.

The ELC provides a planned early childhood program utilizing "best practices" as a demonstration model for students in education-related courses.

Hours of Operation

The ELC is open Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

Evening care hours are Monday - Thursday from 5:00 PM - 8:45 PM. ( *There must be five or more children signed-up for this service for evening care to run.)

Hours are subject to change during semester breaks and during the summer based upon need and enrollment.

*Evening Care is not available during the summer.

Child Care

During the day, the ELC accepts children from 6 months to five years. After 4pm, the ELC accepts children from 6 months through 12.

Rates

A registration fee is charged each summer/year. Emergency drop-in is available to RACC students if space allows. Students must call before using this service to check availability.

Registration

Each semester enrollment is updated. It is to parents' advantage to register their children early to secure a place or to be placed on the waiting list.
