Agency Information: Founded in 1938 by President Roosevelt. The March of Dimes is a national leader and advocate for maternal and child health. The March of Dimes funded the work of Dr. Jonas Salk to develop the polio vaccine and continues to fight to save babies: lives from birth defects, low birth weight and infant mortality. In January 2003, the March of Dimes launched a national Prematurity Campaign ...a 5-year, $75 million dollar research, awareness and education initiative to help American families have healthier babies.
