Microsoft Outlook Web Access

Using a web browser and the internet, Outlook Web Access (OWA) provides access to your email and calendar from anywhere in the world at any time.   (Use Internet Explorer 5.0 or above)

Accessing Your Account

To log into your Outlook account through the Web:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer
  2. Go to: https://webmail.racc.edu/exchange
  3. In the User Name box enter your UserName (first initial and last name)
  4. In the Password box type your password
  5. Click on OK or press Enter

To Open an email message

1.         Double click on the e-mail.

Sending Email

  1. Click on the Inbox icon on the Outlook bar
  2. Click on the New Tool         
  3. Enter email addresses separated by semi-colons (;)
  4. Type a subject
  5. Type the message
  6. Click on the Send tool 

Selecting Names when Sending Messages

In a New Email message, click on the To. button            

  1. Type in the recipient's last name and click Find.
  2. When the recipient's name is found on the list, click on it to highlight it and then click Add recipient to To  to send it to the To-> box.  If you want the recipient in the Cc-> or Bcc-> box, click on the name and then click on the Cc (carbon copy) and/or Bcc (blind carbon copy) tool.
  3. Click Close.
  4. Fill in the rest of the email message and click on Send
  5. If you want to see to faculty or administration, choose All Faculty or All Administration.

Replying to an e-mail message

  1. Open the email message or select it.
  2. Click on Reply on the toolbar.
  3. Type your message in the message area.
  4. Click on Send

Forwarding an e-mail message

  1. Open the email message or select it.
  2. Click on Forward on the toolbar.
  3. Type in the email address in the To text box.
  4. Type in the message area if needed.
  5. Click on Send on the toolbar.

Sending an E-mail with File Attachments

  1. Click New Tool to open a new mail Message form.
  2. Fill in the To and Subject text boxes.
  3. Click on Attachments.
  4. Browse to where your file is located.  Select the file and choose Open. Next, click on Attach and then choose Close. The file will appear next to the Attachment button.
  5. Type in the message area if needed.
  6. Click on Send on the toolbar.

To Open an Attachment

  1. Open the email.  The file is listed in the Attachment field (below the Subject field).
  2. Right click on the Attachment and choose to Open it.   It will open in a compatible program.  You can then choose to Save, Edit or Print it.
  3. Be careful when opening attachments. They may contain viruses. Only open attachments that you feel are from a reliable source.

To print an e-mail

  1. Open the e-mail.
  2. Choose Print from the toolbar.

To delete an e-mail

  1. Select the email and choose Delete on toolbar.

Contacts

Contacts is your Outlook address book.  To create a Contact:

  1. Click on the Contacts icon in the Outlook Bar
  2. Click on the New tool 
  3. Fill in the blanks
  4. Click on the Save and Close tool  

Distribution Lists

Distribution Lists allow you to send email to a group of people. To create a Distribution List:

  1. Click on the drop-down arrow on the New tool and choose Distribution List. Type a name for the list
  2. Click on the Find Names button and enter information about your intended recipient and click Find. (Or, if your recipient is outside the university or you know their address, simply enter their email address and click Add.)
  3. Click on the row of information listed for your list member and click on Add to Distribution List.
  4. After you have selected all of the members, click on Save and Close.
