Business Occupational Training prepares individuals for full-time, unsubsidized employment and provides students with specific skills to increase their employability. Many of the programs can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis, but classes are offered during daytime only.
Interested students will be required to verify previous college coursework completed with an average of "C+" or above, or take a reading assessment test. Select programs require submission of PA Criminal History Report Information, a completed physical form and/or proof of valid health insurance.
Funding for these training programs may be available to individuals meeting the requirements established by the Berks County Employment and Training Office, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation or through the Berks County Public Assistance Office.
Additionally, prospective students may apply for financial aid.

Business Occupational Programs
Administrative Assistant
This course prepares those possessing three to five years of business or clerical experience to upgrade to the Administrative Assistant level. The initial modules will cover Word Processing, Business Management, and Business English. The second module includes advanced administrative skills such as Accounting, Spreadsheets, and Word Processing II. Students also take Desktop Publishing and Micro-computer Accounting. Students will complete a 200-hour internship.
Junior Accountant
This intensive course will teach individuals accounting concepts and principles, payroll procedures and taxes, computerized word processing and spreadsheet programs. Program includes a 150-hour internship.
Office Assistant with Computer Applications
This course is designed to build basic clerical skills with an emphasis on developing computer application skills. Students will be prepared to enter the business world as clerical support personnel, receptionists, correspondence clerks and data entry clerks. This program includes a 150-hour internship.
Computer Applications
This course will assist those students who need training to gain valuable computer software training. Included in this course are classes in word processing, spreadsheets, and introduction to computers. Students will also become proficient in Desktop Publishing, Access, and PowerPoint.
