RACC recognizes that healthcare is an in-demand field, especially in the emerging area of Healthcare IT and Medical Records Management. Because of this, the College has developed new programs, including an associate degree based around the IT needs of healthcare.

Along with the new programs, RACC also can prepare you for careers in a Medical Office setting or in direct patient care.

As part of each program, a personal career coach will work with you to stay focused through your coursework and assist you in your job search.

Students in these programs may be eligible for financial aid, including TAA, WIA, Veteran’s Benefits, grants, scholarships and employer TAPs.

Certified Nurse Aide w/ Healthcare Literacy Certificate

Learn:  theory and practical information regarding patient care along with the necessary reading and language skills.

Length of Program: 17 weeks

At the completion of this program you will be able to sit for the Pennsylvania State Competency Exam. Successful completers will be able to pursue a position as a Nurse Aid who provides patient care in a long-term care facility or personal home.

Medical Insurance and Billing Specialist, Medical Receptionist and Medical Secretary

Learn: Keyboarding; Word Processing; Business English and Math; Medical Terminology; Medical Office Procedures; and Medical Insurance and Coding

Length of Program: 24 weeks

At the completion of these programs, you will be able to pursue a career as a Medical Insurance and Billing Specialist (who processes medical insurance forms and bills), Medical Receptionist (who gets patients and processes their health-related information) or Medical Secretary (who performs secretarial duties in a medical office setting).

Healthcare Information Technology Technician

Learn: PC Installation and Operations; Peripheral Installation and Operations; Network Installation and Operations; Regulatory Requirements; Organizational Behavior in Healthcare; Medical Business Operations; and IT Security

Length of Program: 48 weeks

At the completion of this program, you will be able to pursue a career as a Healthcare IT Technician who configures and installs IT hardware in a healthcare environment or further your education by completing the Electronic Healthcare Records and Healthcare IT Technician associate degree program.

Electronic Health Records and Healthcare Information Technician AAS Degree

Learn: PC Installation and Operations; Peripheral Installation and Operations; Network Installation and Operations; Regulatory Requirements; Organizational Behavior in Healthcare; Medical Business Operations; IT Security; and Electronic Health Records.

Length of Program: 2 years

At the completion of this program, you will be able to pursue a career as a Healthcare IT Technician who configures and installs IT hardware and installs, configures and supports IT software in a healthcare environment.
