II. COURSE DESCRIPTION

The student will receive instruction and hands-on experience using word processing software and the Internet on microcomputers. Proofreading skills reinforced in this course.

III. RATIONALE OF COURSE

Offices have undergone a rapid state of change to become more efficient. New technologies and careers increase the demand for advanced word processing skills. The course will meet the needs of secretaries, supervisors, editors, proofreaders, clerks, analysts, managers, or others engaged in office work in government, private industry, or social service organizations

IV. COURSE COMPETENCIES

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in the correct and efficient usage of Microsoft Word.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in efficient usage of the Internet.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in proofreading and in using correct proofreading symbols for editing documents
