Lucia Torchia Thompson has been in the Travel Industry for twenty-five years. She has been at RACC for 17+ and created the curriculum. With two Masters Degrees and the Certified Travel Consultant designation, she is qualified to take you to the next level in education.

The students in the Travel and Tourism curriculum range in age from recent high school graduates to those looking for a change of career to those looking for a second career. All of them are enthusiastic to learn and will welcome you to the class.

How was the curriculum developed?
The Travel and Tourism curriculum was skillfully developed after a detailed Needs Assessment was conducted in the county. The respondents were owners and managers of travel agencies who would be employers for our students. The curriculum maintains communications with these owners and managers via an Advisory committee that meets one,

two, and sometimes three times yearly to improve upon the curriculum. Additionally, a DACUM (Designing a Curriculum) was conducted on the program in order to make sure that the needs of the travel industry were being met. Our graduates are well prepared to begin their careers with companies who have had input in their education, as well as larger corporations with offices worldwide.
