Science Transfer
Associate in Science Degree
General Education Requirements - 39 credits
This program is designed to prepare the student to enter a baccalaureate program in chemistry, biological science, or pre-professional curricula at the junior level.
Elective Requirements - 21 Credits
Students should choose 20-22 credits to round out their program. These might include additional math, science, humanities or social science classes as suggested by the transfer institution. It is essential that students meet with a Faculty Advisor for assistance in selecting courses. However, it is the responsibility of students to meet with an admissions representative from the four-year institution to determine its transfer policies.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Apply mathematical methods to scientific problems.
- Apply basic scientific principles and concepts in the solution of problems and laboratory experiments.
- Demonstrate an ability to collect, organize, analyze, evaluate, and present data.
- Demonstrate an ability to retrieve data and research relevant literature.
- Demonstrate an ability to use specific scientific apparatus and instrumentation.
- Explain basic scientific principles related to the behavior of matter and energy from the atomic level through the macroscopic level.
- Transfer to an accredited college or university.
Please note: These programs can be pursued on a part-time basis.
Appropriate placement test scores, or the completion of certain developmental courses, are required for all programs of study. Additional prerequisites may be necessary for some courses and can be found in the course descriptions section of the catalog.
It is recommended that students confer with their advisor when selecting electives.
